On November 18th (Sunday), the Kawasaki International Tama River Marathon was opened at Kawasaki’s Todoroki Stadium as the main venue for the event. The stadium also had a Team GB and ParalympicsGB Pre-Games Preparation Camp PR Booth set up for promoting an exciting message to all of the marathon runners: The Team GB and ParalympicsGB Pre-Games Preparation Camp will be held (in part) right here at Todoroki Stadium!
The Kawasaki International Tama River Marathon is a marathon contest that starts at Todoroki Stadium, runs a course along the Tama River, and then returns back to the stadium. Every year many of the runners come not only from within Kawasaki but many other cities as well to participate. The marathon comprises a ‘Half Marathon Section’, a ‘10 km Section’, a ‘3 km’, and a ‘Family Running Section’. The event has over 6,000 participants from children to adults where a diverse range of participants can have fun while challenging marathon records.
There were also many who learned for the very first time that Todoroki Stadium’s facilities will be used for the athletics team’s Pre-Games Preparation Camp. Both those who were about to start their race as well as those who were already finished listened attentively to our staff’s explanations about the Pre-Games Preparation Camp while viewing related promotional materials.
With great enthusiasm from the runners (that was undoubtedly in part fueled by their high interest in sports), the promotion booth was filled with liveliness and excitement throughout the entire event for the up-and-coming Team GB and ParalympicsGB Pre-Games Preparation Camp!
